Nature Hounds Story

Back in 2016, Lisa Pettit opened Nature Hounds and began leading packs of dogs on off-leash hikes, deep in the North Shore mountains. Joined by her faithful Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, Finn, Lisa cultivated hiking groups based on the best environment and behavioural matches for each dog. She brought honesty, assistance and support to each client relationship which created long lasting friendships, from puppy through to last days. Nature Hounds grows with your dog.

The Comings & Goings

Over the years, Nature Hounds went through ups and downs, twists and turns of whether or not they would continue to operate. Covid was especially difficult to manage for single Mother, Owner and Operator Lisa, with two small kids at home. But through strong relationships with clients and other trusted professional care providers, Lisa was able to get Nature Hounds successfully up and running again. But then came the call of.... school.

To Now

In December 2024, Lisa shut down business to pursue a lifelong passion to attend Paramedic Academy. As school goes, a year became 18 months and entering the workforce took even more time.

During these stressful periods, Lisa unintentionally reignited her passion for working with dogs and recognised the positive balance that spending time with the dogs provides to Paramedic work.

Today, Lisa has leaned into that balance and continues work in both fields, providing Drop-In canine care between her Paramedic work and family time. Lisa also maintains strong relationships with reputable canine care providers for potential referrals.

Nature Hounds provides a loving family environment for in-home care and fun, controlled hikes and walks. Pets become family and live like they do at home.
